This report by Climake examines asset finance opportunities across India's waste and circularity sector, covering ten major waste streams including plastics, e-waste, lithium-ion batteries, agricultural and biomass waste, municipal solid waste, wastewater, textiles, tyres, lead-acid batteries, construction and demolition waste, and end-of-life vehicles. For each stream, it maps waste generation volumes, recycling rates, key business models, and the financing instruments best suited to them. The central argument is that as India's waste sector shifts from collection and disposal toward industrial-scale recycling and resource recovery, asset finance — through leasing, equipment loans, and asset-backed lending — is the critical but underdeveloped capital layer needed to scale the sector.

The guide outlines India’s current context in recycling and circularity, and focuses on the investment potential, opportunities and business models in the ten most significant waste streams in India. This guide also contains sector-specific deep dives that identify business models with investment potential in each waste stream. To provide a comprehensive outline of the investment potential of each waste stream and the business models found in each, the guide provides a framework for how investment potential in a waste stream can be determined, and offers a historical outline of investments and funding in each waste stream and outlines the roles and participation of various types of equity and non-dilutive funders
